Sabrina Muzi lavora con video, fotografia, performance, installazione, disegno. Questi differenti media messi in relazione tra loro concorrono spesso alla realizzazione di progetti site specific.

Interessata ai temi relativi al corpo soggetto e alle sue connessioni con l’ambiente sociale e naturale crea immagini e situazioni che portano lo spettatore a un coinvolgimento empatico ed emozionale.

In molti lavori è presente lei stessa attraverso azioni performative, spesso reiterate come in una sorta di rituale, a volte creando connessioni con altri elementi, trasformando il proprio corpo con azioni di costrizione o, al contrario, di liberazione.

Gli elementi su cui pone lo sguardo, per utilizzarli in azioni e installazioni o per renderle in immagini video e fotografiche, vengono dal mondo della vita quotidiana (oggetti, vestiti,...) o dal mondo naturale e organico (vegetali, minerali,...) e assumono, prima che una valenza simbolica, quella di un immaginario surreale che si anima e prende vita attraverso l’esperienza estetica.

Nella ricerca di Sabrina Muzi emergono un senso di tensione e precarietà, la visione di uno spazio interiore e fisico continuamente minacciato da forze esterne o dalla debolezza stessa dell’esserci. L’evocazione di situazioni al limite suggeriscono luoghi mentali, un immaginario psicologico di visioni remote e inafferrabili che stimolano un tentativo di rivalsa e affermazione del proprio status vitale ma che al tempo stesso approdano all’ineludibile subordinazione al flusso naturale della vita.

Sabrina Muzi works with video, photography, performance, installation, drawing. These different media are often correlated with each other converging in the creation of site specific projects.

She is interested in themes relating to the body and its connections with the social and natural environment, creating images and situations that lead the viewer to an empathic and emotional involvement.

In many works she perform her own body through actions that appear like a sort of ritual, where usually she makes actions often repeated, sometimes to transform her body, creating connections with other elements and bringing it to a constraint or, on the contrary, looking for open situations of liberation.

Her research focuses on elements which come from the world of everyday life, (clothes, urban objects...) and from organic and natural world (plants, vegetables, minerals.. ). These elements, used in performances and installations or captured in photographs and videos, suggest not only a symbolic value but mainly a vision of a surreal imagery that comes alive through the aesthetic experience.

In the Sabrina Muzi’s work emerge a sense of tension and shakiness, the vision of an inner and physical space continually threatened by external forces, or by the weakness of being. The evocation of situations at the limit suggest mental places, a psychological imagery of remote and ungraspable visions that stimulate an attempt to obtain relief and to affirm own vital status, but recalling, at the same time, the inescapable subordination to the natural flow of life.
