Ceremony

Project consists of five installations, which constitute a unique environment, made of different materials, including edible products: noodles, lotus seeds, caltrops, mushrooms, clothes, and sound. Created during a residency of two months in Taipei, this project is the result of an immersive journey into the life and social reality of the city, with its night and day markets, the chaotic liveliness of the streets, the voices of its sellers, the sounds of its sacred songs. Past and present, ancient rituals and modern fashions, knowledges of a historical culture and contemporary desires, mingle and happily coexist in an atmosphere of feast.

Progetto composto da cinque installazioni, che vanno a costituire un unico ambiente, realizzate con materiali diversi, tra cui prodotti edibili: pasta alimentare, semi di loto, castagne acquatiche, funghi secchi, vestiti, e un intervento sonoro. Realizzato durante una residenza di due mesi a Taipei, il progetto è il risultato di un viaggio immersivo nella vita e nella realtà sociale della città, con i suoi mercati diurni e notturni, la vivacità caotica delle strade, le voci dei suoi venditori ambulanti, i suoni di canti religiosi. Passato e presente, antichi rituali e mode moderne, saperi di una cultura storica e desideri contemporanei, si mescolano e sembrano felicemente convivere in un’atmosfera di festa.
