Il progetto comprende una serie di sculture nelle quali, il più delle volte, è presente una fonte audio proveniente dall’interno. Costituito da una stratificazione di carte, tra cui carte di bambù dipinte a tempera, il lavoro ricorda per forma e texture l’elemento naturale della corteccia. La leggerezza dei materiali dialoga con la solidità dell’albero che questa sorta di “pelle” suggerisce, e il titolo, citando uno dei principi ermetici del Kybalion, stabilisce la connessione profonda tra interno ed esterno, microcosmo e macrocosmo, a dichiarare che ciò che vediamo non è altro che lo specchio di ciò che sentiamo, e la nostra interiorità il riflesso del reale. Suoni provenienti dal mondo della natura e parole prese in prestito dalla poesia e da antiche sapienze sussurrano brani di Paracelso, Ildegarda de Bingen, Saffo, Anite di Tegea.
The project “As within, so without, as without, so within” comprises sculptures of different shapes and sizes, some of which feature an internal audio source. They are composed of layered papers, the last one is a layer acrylic-painted bamboo paper. This work recalls the natural element of bark in its shape and texture, and the lightness of the materials contrasts with the solidity of the tree that this “skin” suggests. The title, citing one of the Hermetic principles of the Kybalion, establishes the profound connection between interior and exterior, microcosm and macrocosm: what we see and perceive from the external is nothing else the mirror of what we feel, and our interiority is a reflection of external reality. Approaching the work we can listen sounds from the world of Nature and words whispering passages from Paracelsus, Hildegard of Bingen, Sappho, and Anite of Tegea.
