Chéirōn invita a leggere un’enigma e si propone come un’apparizione. L’opera è l’assunzione e rielaborazione di un segno immaginale che incrocia il mito, la scoperta storica di un corpo celeste e il simbolo-archetipo che in astrologia e psicologia equivale alla cura del sè, alla ferita sanata, possibile solo dopo averla accolta e compresa. Chirone è il centauro divenuto costellazione o asteroide-cometa che brilla, qui rappresentato nel disegno del glifo che prende una forma vegetale che si staglia sospesa sullo sfondo di un paesaggio in bianco e nero. L’opera, nata come parte di un progetto nei sotterranei di Villa Davia, luogo di prigionia, rappresentava, nel contesto, la tappa conclusiva del percorso performativo di interazione con il pubblico, consegnandosi come momento individuale nell’aura luminosa di una saletta a sè stante. La valenza taumaturgica del “vedere” nel senso dell’assumere dentro di sè la comprensione per attivare il processo di metamorfosi è la metafora presente nel lavoro, nonché il conferire proprio all’arte tale funzione catartica.
Chéirōn (Chiron) invites us to read an enigma and presents itself as an apparition. The work is the assumption and reworking of an imaginary sign that intersects myth, the historical discovery of a celestial body, and the archetypal symbol that in astrology and psychology equates to self-care, to a healed wound, possible only after having accepted and understood it. Chiron is the centaur turned constellation or shining asteroid-comet, represented here in the design of the glyph that takes on a plant form, suspended against the backdrop of a black-and-white landscape. The work, conceived as part of a project in the basement of Villa Davia, a place of imprisonment, represented, in this context, the final stage of the performative process of interaction with the public, presenting itself as an individual moment in the luminous aura of a separate room. The thaumaturgical value of “seeing” in the sense of taking on understanding within oneself to activate the process of metamorphosis is the metaphor present in the work, as well as the conferring of this cathartic function on art itself.
