The project was created using old containers, where have been presented thirteen photographs and an installation consisting of green foliage flowed outside. The photographs show images of tree trunks wrapped with bamboo rope, took on the streets of Kunming. This image is often common in Chinese cities, especially in Yunnan Province, for its characteristic of very green land and very attentive to the protection of nature. These trunks covered with bamboo, and sometimes with plastic, have caught my attention for taking various forms in this particular “habit”, making me think about the contradictory concept of protection. At the same time they suggested me an archaic world connected to the totemic traditions and to the symbolic rituals related to the tree. (You can see the photographs in the Photo Project section)
Il progetto è stato creato usando vecchi containers, in cui sono state presentate tredici fotografie e un’installazione composta di fogliame verde che fuoriusciva all’esterno. Le fotografie mostrano immagini di tronchi d’albero avvolti con corda di bambù, fotografati lungo le strade di Kunming. Questa immagine è spesso frequente nelle città cinesi, soprattutto nella provincia dello Yunnan, per la sua caratteristica di territorio molto verde e particolarmente attento alla protezione della natura. I tronchi coperti di bambù, e a volte con la plastica, hanno catturato la mia attenzione per le varie forme che assumevano in queste particolari “vestizioni” facendomi riflettere sul concetto contradditorio di protezione, e nello stesso tempo trasportandomi in un mondo arcaico legato sia alle tradizioni totemiche che ai rituali simbolici legati all’albero.
