Natura morta con carte

The work is thought for the small exhibition space, a glass cabinet on a street in Fiesole, connected to the personal exhibition “Pratica naturale” held in Florence in the same period. Citing the genre of seventeenth-century still lifes, Italian and Flemish, the work is presented as a real object instead of a reproduction of reality, emphasizing the idea of vanitas and impermanence. Visible by an audience of passers-by, it creates a short circuit in the ambiguity between a contemporary commercial showcase and the reference to an image that is now part of our historical and cultural memory.

Il lavoro appositamente realizzato per il piccolo spazio espositivo, una vetrinetta in una strada di Fiesole, è collegato alla mostra personale “Pratica naturale” svoltasi a Firenze nello stesso periodo. Citando il genere delle nature morte seicentesche, italiane e fiamminghe, il lavoro si presenta come oggetto reale anziché come riproduzione della realtà accentuando l’idea di vanitas e impermanenza. Fruibile dai passanti, crea un cortocircuito nell’ambiguità tra una contemporanea vetrina commerciale e il rimando a un’immagine che fa oramai parte della nostra memora storica e culturale.
